Still alive.
In Vegas. Went to Star Trek Experience, it was awesome. Dallas in 2 days.
Love you all!
Times up!
First full day, yay! In the beginning we went to find Yum Yum Donuts but we completely missed the stop so off into San Diego proper we went. Had some delicious and cheap Mexican then went5 shopping for a sim card to I can get in contact with people while I'm here.
After we were done there it was back to the hotel (on the trolley* and then the bus) to get our registration barcodes then we trundled off to Preview night where I was warmy greeted by People from the Internets.
The con is Huuuuuuuge! And full of stuff. I'll be uploading photos when I have a bit more time.
Must go, will update again soon - I'm lagging behind in my updates.
Well I made it part way. I'm on a wireless hotspot at Auckland airport. Auckland airport has two things going for it.
1) The Burger King had L&P on tap. Yay, refills!
2) Smoking area, even if it does feel a bit like a pogrom area for smokers.
A couple more hours to go in this stop over then it's on to the NZ to LA leg of the trip. I plan to sleep for most of the 11 hour plane flight. Right after that is the train to SD which I plan to be awake for because I'm told the scenery is lovely.
On the way from SYD to AUK I finally got to see 300. Oh my, so much
shouting. In Sparta there are no inside voices, indeed! And the hot guy
got his head cut off. Boo! The rest of Scots Spartans were too hairy!
I've started the last HP novel (Thanks again, Benny and Alex for delivering it) but I'm too tired to read. I haven't slept since sunday night!
Battery is running low so I'd best be off.
Love, Rachel.
Eight hours until I am on a plane!
SO! VERY! EXCITED!
I've decided to use Twitter so I can post from SMS once I get an American sim card for my phone. I'll pop the widget into my profile so you can see my mini updates if this page will let me!
Also, I'm on skype with the user name statichowl but I don't know how often I'll get to use it, nor the quality of the webcam I'm taking. (Edit: quality isn't too bad).
Who is the very first friend you ever had? Are you still in touch?
Louise.
Yes, we're still in touch. We met when we lived in the same block of apartments. I cried the first day she went to school without me. I was secretly happy when she repeated a year so we'd be in the same class. We became cousins when my grandad married her grandma and we greived together when her grandma died. We lost touch for a few years then found each other again.
Just today I was looking at old photos and there she is, at my 4th birthday and again at every birthday after.
I love her and I'm glad that fate led us together.
